I started to view work as a competitive sport

  • It’s taken me years to see this, but showing up to work is like stepping into the field of play

  • Just like professional athletes, I view work situations as training, as game-day, as competitions depending on the particular project

  • And just like how athletes spend serious time in the gym, in practice and in film study, corporate ‘athletes’ can do the same

  • I used to think it was pointless to look up to sport stars since I was never going to excel at soccer or basketball, but now I see them as role models on how to be at the top of my own game

  • Draw inspiration from role models - emulate their dedication, their commitment to their craft

  • Get obsessed to be the best version of yourself and to make constructive and gradual improvements to your own skills
